The newest addition to the Collins family!
Our second child, Sarah Louise, was born at 5:05 pm on the 7th of July at the Illawarra Private Hospital in Figtree. She weighed 3.350 kg (7lb 6oz), and measured 50.5 cm (around 20 inches, I think).
Here are the first photos of Sarah, maybe an hour after she was born.

Megan went to see Dr Walton today for a regular pregnancy check-up. As soon as he started examining her, he said, “Whoa, Megan! You’re going straight to the hospital!”. Megan rang me at work, and I met her at Figtree Private Hospital at about 3:00 pm.
Things progressed much as they should, and at 5:05 pm little baby Sarah Louise was born!

We had Megan’s 18-week ultrasound this afternoon. The result was a completely Normal Diagnosis.
Also, there was an interesting article in the Sydney Morning Herald recently about Down syndrome in art: Nativity scene paints different picture of Down syndrome.

Grace had her first birthday party today. She slept through most of the celebrations, but at least she was the last kid to bed! Games featured included pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey, balloon races, two treasure hunts, and an impromptu winner-take-all balloon battle.
Check out the photos in the gallery.

We spent Christmas Day down at Huskisson with Robyn, Ian, Todd and Joyce this year. Grace had a great time, and of course was spoilt rotten.

I have just uploaded the beginnings of a CityDesk FAQ. If you have any comments or suggestions, please email me.
Since it was so hot today, we gave Grace one of her Christmas presents a bit early - a big blue clamshell swimming pool/sandpit. She loved splashing around in the water! Beau (Phil’s dog) watched on with interest.

On Friday the 1st of November, Megan and Grace picked me up from work in the afternoon and we drove up to Forster for a long-awaited holiday. Megan’s aunt and uncle, Marion and Brian, own a holiday unit just a stone’s throw from the beach, right near the main street of Forster. They very generously offered us the use of it for the week.
We arrived quite late on the Friday night, so we spent most of Saturday relaxing and scoping out the area. A stroll along the waterfront to the tourist information center netted us a stack of brochures on places to go and things to do. We had lunch at Harry’s Cafe de Wheels (a great pie van), bought some fresh mangoes on the way home, and then flaked out.

On Sunday, we drove up to Blackhead for the local markets. We bought a Christmas dress for Grace and a couple bags of fresh fruit and vegies.

Monday was Craft Day - we visited Australia’s only Amish shop at Nabiac, and checked out Forster’s local craft center. Once again, we relaxed in front of the TV in the afternoon.

Tuesday was a beautiful day, so we took Grace down to the beach for her first ever swim.

On Wednesday, I tried to get some sunset photos down at the river before we went for a delicious dinner at Divino’s Italian restaurant.

On Thursday, we drove around the Myall Lakes area a bit and checked out some of the local beaches. They were stunning.

Later that evening, I headed down to the river again to try to get some more sunset photos. This time I used a warming filter, and drove around to the oyster leases looking for some interesting subjects.

Megan’s morning sickness was starting to get worse by this stage, so we decided to come home a day early on Friday.

Mum and Dad came up for lunch today to celebrate Mum’s birthday. We had a delicious lunch at the Harbourside Brighton in Kiama - always good food, good service, and reasonable prices.
